School Consultation

The Faison School and the Autism Center of Virginia offer expert consultative services to school districts providing services to children and young adults with autism. Consultants from the Center have practical knowledge of and expertise in current best practice in all aspects of autism intervention.

Services can be tailored to a specific child or can be used to help establish or improve programming for an entire school or district. The team from The Faison School will work with school personnel to identify and address specific areas of need.

Examples of areas for consultation:

• Establishing evidence-based education and behavior programs for young children
• Programs to promote expressive language
• Strategies to support social interaction
• Strategies to support meaningful inclusion
• Curriculum modification
• Individualized lesson planning
• Functional assessment & behavior intervention planning

Training for School Personnel
