After School Program

The Faison After School Program (ASP) was established in September 2009, and was developed to meet the needs of students requiring academic and behavioral support during afternoon and evening hours. The ASP operates in parallel with Faison's day program, which enrolls and serves students year-round.

The program is likewise modeled after the day school's three-pronged approach of empirically-driven treatment, research, and training to best serve our students. It is from this perspective that we now provide services to students in the afternoon and evening hours focusing on recreation, social, communication, and daily living skills. Hours of operation are Monday through Thursday, 2:15 to 6:00 PM. Students may attend all four days or take advantage two-day offerings (either Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday).

The ASP provides 1:1 staffing and, in addition, is overseen daily by the Program Leader and school directors. The program is dedicated to providing an individualized program for each student based on the child's need as assessed by The Faison School during the intake process and based on the requests of parents/guardians. For students with more challenging behavioral needs, individualized behavior plans will be developed to address these challenges, and in addition, staff working with the children will receive training in the principles of applied behavior analysis and behavior management.

If you have questions or would like more information about enrollment, rates, or services, please contact Eli Newcomb at 804-612-1947 or by email at enewcomb@thefaisonschool.org
